Evelyn J. Steckler, 88, of Jamestown, passed away peacefully at Edgewood Vista, Jamestown, on Friday, September 13, 2024.
Evelyn J. Willey was born February 6, 1936, in Jamestown ND, the daughter of Lloyd and Josephine (Anderson) Willey. She attended grade school in Ypsilanti, ND, and rural school in the area. Evelyn attained her GED from James Valley Vocational School in Jamestown. Evelyn married Ed Steckler on November 5, 1955 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown. They made their home in Jamestown where Evelyn took great pride and love in raising her children and being a homemaker. Evelyn was a very caring, loving and empathetic woman and was always there when you needed her. She enjoyed playing the organ, dancing, music from the big band era and reading autobiographies. Evelyn worked occasionally, part time at various positions over the years.
Evelyn was a member of the St. James Basilica, St. James Tabernacle Society and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Evelyn is survived by her husband Ed, Jamestown, son, Dan, Jamestown, daughter, Nancy, Bedford, Texas, son, Wayne, (Penny) Jamestown; four grandchildren, David (Mandy), Kyla (Adriaan) Stoltz, Jamestown, Alan Steckler, Bismarck, Laura Steckler, Bismarck; three great-grandchildren Hunter, Mya and Leah; three step great-grandchildren; one brother, Darwin (Theresa) Willey, Colorado.
She was preceded in death by beloved son Roger; parents; brothers, Lloyd, LeRoy, Don and Ernest; and sisters Ruby Clemens, Esther Williams, Lorraine Scott, Josephine Wirrenga, Ruth Williams and Grace Priebie.

Mass of Christian Burial – 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 19, 2024 at St. James Basilica, Jamestown, with the Very Reverend C.F. Wilhelm, celebrant.
Burial – Calvary Cemetery, Jamestown.
