Delores Card, age 92, of Valley City, ND, died Friday, September 20th at SMP Health-St. Raphael in Valley City.  A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 25th at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City. Visitation will be held on hour before the service at the church.  Inurnment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery near Valley City. 

Delores Mae (Lemnus) Card was born on June 20, 1932, in Sheldon, North Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Mildred (Peterson) Lemnus.  She grew up in the Sheldon area and graduated from Sheldon High School in 1950.  She then attended Western Union School in Indiana and worked in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Fargo, North Dakota.  She married Jack R. Card on April 9, 1953.  They resided on the family farm for many years. She moved to Valley City after Jack’s death in 1992.  She moved into SMP Health in 2022 and resided there until her death.  Delores was very active in helping Jack operate the family farm as well as being very busy raising three children.  She worked for over 21 years at the Fair Store in Valley City until it closed.  She then worked part time at various retail stores in Valley City until her retirement in 2005.  Delores then kept busy by volunteering her time at the Mercy Hospital gift shop as well as helping operate the Welcome Wagon at the Sheyenne Care Center.  Along with all of her volunteer time, she was a very active member of the Dakota Wild Roses Red Hat Society.  Delores was also an active member of Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City.  Delores had a very deep love for her family, friends and community.  She loved meeting people and making new friends.   She so enjoyed her time spent with her grandchildren.  She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Delores is survived by her two daughters, Brenda (Doran) Hauser, West Fargo, and Sara (Tom) Morehouse, Valley City; three Grandchildren, Jason Schmidt of West Fargo, Hannah (Ben) Freeman of Minneapolis and Mat (Megan) Lutjens of West Fargo, three Great-Grandchildren, Scarlett and Rhet Lutjens of West Fargo, and Henley Freeman of Minneapolis; one brother, Don (Jane) Lemnus of Colorado along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Ethel, her brother Merle, her daughter Beth and her grandson Christopher.
