Dorothy Hidy, born on September 23, 1958, in Jamestown, North Dakota, to Wilfert and Helen (Ziemann) Thom, passed away on her 66th birthday, September 23, 2024, in Wabash, Indiana. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and love that will forever be cherished by her husband Robert Hidy, her children Christopher and Vanessa, her brother Jerry, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Dorothy’s journey of life began in North Dakota, but it was in California and Indiana that she truly found her home. After graduating from Edgeley High School, North Dakota in 1976, she ventured to Susanville, California. From Susanville, Dorothy embarked on a hitchhiking journey that eventually led her to North Manchester.
During her time in North Manchester, Dorothy worked eleven-years at Lance’s New Market before embracing retirement. In 2002, Dorothy’s life took a beautiful turn as she married Robert Hidy, creating a partnership that was filled with love and joy. She was an active and lifetime member of the Moose Lodge, where she forged lasting friendships and shared laughter with those around her.
The loving memory of Dorothy Hidy will be forever cherished by her husband, Robert Hidy, North Manchester; children, Christopher (Tiffanie) Hoyt and Vanessa (Tony) Rickert, both of California; step-son, Steve Besolin, California; brother, Jerry (Nola) Thom, Edgeley, North Dakota; three grandchildren; and the lives she touched during her journey. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilfert and Helen Thom.
It was Dorothy’s wish to not have services, but instead to have people remember her in acts of kindness and love.
Graveside Service – 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Mount Hope Cemetery, Edgeley.
