Florence McClean, 92, Jamestown, ND passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Eventide Jamestown.
Florence Baker McClean daughter of Bryant and Hazel (Purintun) Baker was born on November 10, 1932 on the family farm near Hazelton, ND. Florence grew up on a farm near Hazelton, Kintyre and Ypsilanti where she attended country schools and graduated from Jamestown High School in 1951. She attended Valley City Teachers College and then taught at a country School.
Florence and Otis McClean were married on March 16, 1952 at the United Methodist Church in Jamestown by Rev. Leslie Burgum. They lived in Colorado Springs, CO while Otis was in the Army and on farms near Ypsilanti and Hazelton. Then they purchased their farm near Jamestown in 1956. Florence worked at Bostwick’s Department Store from 1971 to 1990 and at Wal-Mart from 1991-2009 when she retired.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Wesley Circle and United Methodist Women.
Florence and Otis were blessed with five sons and one daughter, Jeffrey (Beth), Fargo, ND, Julie (Loren) Hoeckle, Jamestown, ND, Jonathan (Jody), Jamestown, ND, Jason (Penny), Kulm, ND, Joel (Della), Ypsilanti, ND and Jerome (Deb), Jamestown, ND; grandchildren Michelle (Frank) Taracido, Denver, CO, Bryan (Nikki) McClean, Argusville, ND, Krystyna Hoeckle, Jamestown, ND, Josh (Denise) McClean, Jamestown, ND, Jake (MiKayla) McClean, Oakes, ND, Lucas (Amanda) McClean, Yspilanti, ND; 15 great grandchildren, Dilon, Sophie, Ryken McClean, Madisyn, Kaylie, Paisley, Piper McClean, Sienna, DeClan, Delaney McClean, Lyndi and Laynie McClean, William, Matthew and Charlotte Taracido; sisters Olive Ackerman, Rome, GA, Mabel Noot, Valley City, ND.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband Otis, parents, son Jeff, brothers Charles, Bruce, Ray, Russell, Boyd, Grant, Lester and Leslie, sisters Opal, Lillian, Fern and Lottie.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, February 6, 2025 at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown, ND with Pastor Travis Voeltz officiating. Interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens in the spring. Florence’s service will be livestreamed on her obituary page @eddyfuneralhome.com.
