Jamestown – Jamestown Public Schools has created a series of videos to build an understanding in the community around 3 key questions:
1) Why was the decision made to retire Washington?
2) Why is now the right time to make these facility decisions?
3) What options have been identified for potential next steps?
Over the next week, JPS will provide a series of short videos focused on question #1: Why was the decision made to retire Washington. You will hear from JPS staff around two primary factors, 1) Declining Enrollment and 2) Facility Needs.
In this first video, Dr. Lech provides some historical context of enrollment at the elementary level and how that has changed the needs at JPS even in just the last 15 years, cost to continue to operate Washington Elementary with the current enrollment, as well as the district’s continued desire to be stewards of tax dollars.
