On May 10, 2025, at 7:50am NDHP responded to a reported reckless driver eastbound on I-94 from Kidder County. The vehicle, a Monte Carlo, was located near mile marker 242 going eastbound. A traffic stop was initiated after committing driving violations and the vehicle sped up to 100mph+. The pursuit continued eastbound until the vehicle exited I-94 at mm 257.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol terminated the pursuit as the Monte Carlo fled into the southwest area of Jamestown. A short time later the Jamestown Police Department located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. Soon after, Jamestown Police Department reported that the vehicle crashed at the intersection of 10th St & 7th Ave SE into a GMC Sierra 1500. The driver of the Monte Carlo, Jamie Barnes of Bismarck, was charged with the following:
Fleeing 1st offense – A misdemeanor
DUI-Drugs; Minor 1st offense – A misdemeanor
Reckless endangerment – C felony

This crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol. Names of juveniles will not be released.
