Hawley MN (VCSU) – In the final tournament for the Fall season, the Valley City State University Vikings have a great showing at the Comet Invite, hosted by Mayville State at the Hawley Golf Course.
For the women, Sydney Carlson carded a two-day total of 163 (82-81) which was good enough for third. Sadie Neustel shot a 174 (90-84) to finish ninth. Winter Oldrock was 17th with her 183 (91-92)
Kacie Rexin of the University of Jamestown was medalist with a 150 (74-76).
Jamestown took team honors finishing ten shots over second place Dickinson State.
On the men’s side, Zach St. Aubin was sixth with a solid two-day total of 149 (70-79). Nick Meisch (75-79) and Owen Haase (80-74) tied for ninth with a 154. John Renaud shot a 160 (83-77) to finish 23rd. Wyatt Meisch carded a two-day total of 162 (83-79) to finish tied for 24th. Howard Neustel was 42nd with a 175 (89-86). Tony Piccalo was 48th with his two-day total of 214 (106-108).
Ryan Engel of Concordia, Moorhead was the medalist with a two-day total of 140 (70-70).
As a team, the Vikings finished tied for tied for third with Jamestown and were just six strokes out of second place. Concordia was the top team, 22 shots ahead of second place.
This was the last meet of the Fall for the Vikings; they will start the Spring portion of the schedule in April.
