JTPD – On November 21, 2025, at approximately 1808 hrs., Stutsman County dispatch received a call reporting a possible intoxicated driver. The caller described a vehicle driving in the wrong lane and swerving on 4 Ave NW, near Sunnyside Trailer Court. The caller was able to identify and safely follow the vehicle, until officers could locate it.
At, approximately 1817 hrs., a Jamestown Police Officer initiated a traffic stop in the 500 block of 10 Ave SE on the reported vehicle. An officer briefly spoke to the male driver and attempted to initiate an investigation into the driver’s impairment. The driver refused to exit the vehicle and drove off in the 2008 Volvo SUV he was operating.
Jamestown Police pursued the vehicle through the southeast, northeast, and northwest parts of Jamestown, due to the danger the impaired driver presented to the public. The vehicle continued eluding police going west on Stutsman County Road 40, outside city limits.
The vehicle speeds varied during the pursuit, with top speeds reaching between 50-60 mph. The vehicle eventually pulled into a farmyard several miles north of Eldridge, ND. The driver was taken into custody without further incident.
The driver was identified as 45-year-old Keith Meidinger of Eldridge, ND. Residents of the farmyard where the pursuit ended did not know Meidinger. Meidinger was arrested on suspicion of DUI, Reckless Driving, Fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer, and having an open receptacle of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. He was transported to Stutsman County Corrections to await formal charges.
The investigation into this incident is ongoing and further charges are possible. The Jamestown Police Department was assisted by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota Highway Patrol.
