Jamestown, ND (KCSi-T.V. News Oct 15, 2013) — The James River Valley Library System Library Board is planning an initiated petition process to put a county-wide quarter-cent sales tax on the ballot to pay for a new $9 million library facility, which would consolidate all the materials currently in Alfred Dickey Public Library and the Stutsman County Library.
The library board’s secondary plan is to purchase the Straus building next to Alfred Dickey Library, and after remodeling the interrior, use the space as an addition to Alfred Dickey Library, consolidating Stutsman County Library materials there in the single, expanded facility.
That cost is estimated at about $3 million to $4 million.
Also at issue is that the Stutsman County Library houses the bookmobile, and if that library is closed there is nowhere to park the bookmobile.
