One of Jamestown’s most festive and spirited traditions returns Saturday, March 14, as the 47th Annual Runnin’ O’ the Green brings St. Patrick’s Day fun and fundraising to the community.
The annual event combines a social run with stops at several local establishments, all while raising money for Camp Grassick and other charitable causes. Participants must be at least 21 years old and are required to carry a photo ID during the event.
Registration will be held Friday, March 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Elks Club. On Saturday, participants will gather at Frontier Fort, where the event begins at noon. The first heat is scheduled to start at 2 pm.
Registration costs $10 for the run, or $30, which includes an event shirt. Shirts can also be ordered through Wildside Creations.
The route will guide participants through several popular Jamestown locations, including The Fort, Buff, Club 1883, Elks Club, Corner Bar, Jonny B’s, Fred’s Den, The Wokcy, All Vets Club, and Shady’s. The festive course encourages participants to dress in green and enjoy the camaraderie and St. Patrick’s Day atmosphere.
Since 2008, Runnin’ O’ the Green has raised more than $360,000 to support Camp Grassick and the North Dakota Elks Major Project. These funds have helped provide services to individuals with special needs and supported hundreds of cancer patients throughout North Dakota.
Donations to Camp Grassick may be sent to the Jamestown Elks Club, P.O. Box 990, Jamestown, ND 58402.
