Donald Winton Jensen, age 99, formerly of Edgeley, ND, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, in Jamestown, ND, at Eventide Nursing Home.
Born the fourth child and second son of Hans and Clara (Oleson) Jensen on October 19, 1926, Donald was raised on the family farm outside Edgeley and attended Wano Township #1 School. Donald grew up learning the skills which equipped him well for successfully farming throughout his adult life.
Donald loved farming and learning. As he grew, he paid close attention to his father’s farming and learned the many skills required of a good farmer, including the necessary mechanical skills to keep the farm machinery running smoothly. Don enjoyed visiting and working with his brothers and learning through their various endeavors. He was willing to share his knowledge with anyone willing to listen and learn and was always willing to help his neighbors when needed. He enjoyed reading and learning about new farming techniques. Donald was diligent and intentional in his work.
Donald had a deep love for Jesus. He read his Bible attentively and endeavored to live the Christian life. He possessed a good sense of humor. Kindness and contentment marked his life. He appreciated nature’s beauty, enjoyed reading, the outdoors, and hunting. He faithfully and practically lived out his Christian faith. He did not surround himself with excess of any kind but rather used thoroughly the tools he had. Donald held closely to the Word of God. His main and treasured book was his Bible. Having learned to be content in whatever state he was and that he was able to do all things through Christ’s strength, his life exemplified sustained contentment and patience.
Donald is remembered as a loving, devoted, faithful, hard-working son, brother, and uncle. He blessed his family with visits, kindness, laughter and gave them many good memories.
Last of his generation, Don was preceded in death by his parents Hans and Clara, brothers Clarence, Doyne and Floyd, and sisters Gladys and Charlotte. Donald is survived by three generations of nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 11, 2026, at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Edgeley, ND, at 10:00 a.m. for one hour prior to the service beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Interment will follow the service in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Edgeley.
