Rypkema Breaks School Record in 10,000 Meters
Azuse CA (NDSU) – North Dakota State sophomore Jade Rypkema broke the oldest active school record for Bison women’s outdoor track & field on Thursday.
Rypkema (Nevis, Minn.) broke the 40-year-old NDSU record in the 10,000m, running 35:04.42 at the Bryan Clay Invitational in California to take down Nancy Dietman’s school record from 1986 by seven seconds.
Also at the Bryan Clay Invitational, sophomore Mia Hoffmann ran a personal-best 36:09.44 in the 10,000m to rank ninth in NDSU history. Jenna DeBates clocked a personal-best 36:33.37.
Bison freshman Kylie Nelson ran 10:54.58 in the 3000m steeplechase, ranking 10th all-time at NDSU.
NDSU’s sprinters and hurdlers competed at the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., on Thursday.
Sophomore Paige Renschler won the 100m dash in a wind-aided 11.33. Elise Wisnewski took third in a wind-aided 11.66.
Sydney Arndt won the 100m hurdles in 13.72, and Jordyn Davis was second in 14.17.
Reese Rogowski won the 400m dash with a time of 56.27. Soraya Espino took second in 57.85.
Kendal Stingle (1:00.87), Kate Laqua (1:02.81), Brooke Cina (1:02.96), and Sophia Headley (1:03.78) finished 2-3-4-5 in the 400m hurdles.
Competition will continue on Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Nebraska’s Big Red Classic.
Goss Claims Steeplechase School Record
Azusa CA (NDSU) – North Dakota State junior Brady Goss broke the school record in the 3,000m steeplechase to headline the performances of the Bison men’s track & field team at a pair of meets on Thursday.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa, Calif., Goss ran 8:46.27 in the steeplechase to break Jake Januszewski’s NDSU record (8:48.67) from 2007 by a margin of 2.4 seconds. It was also a new personal-best for Goss – a Devils Lake, N.D., native and transfer from Concordia-Moorhead.
NDSU’s sprinters and hurdlers competed at the Dewey Donat Classic hosted by Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., on Thursday. Ramon Duran (53.45), Otto Anderson (53.97), and Joshua Beil (54.40) finished 1-2-3 in the 400m hurdles.
Brooks Turner won the 110m hurdles in 13.95.
Jayden Murdock ran 10.70 in the 100m dash for fifth place at Northern State, and Tyler Milkes was sixth in 10.71. Murdock also took third in the 200m in 22.03.
Competition will continue on Friday at the Bryan Clay Invitational and Nebraska’s Big Red Classic.
