Wanda Lee Kruger, 85, Bismarck, ND, went to her heavenly home on May 2, 2026, under hospice care at Prairie Pointe Assisted Living Facility.
Wanda was born on March 20, 1941, at home on the family farm in Corinne Township, north of Courtenay, North Dakota. The only daughter of Ernest and Ethel (nee Syvertson) Wraalstad, she was a full-blooded Norwegian. She grew up on that farmstead with her two older brothers (Eugene and Donald) and one younger brother (Leon). She graduated from Courtenay High School in May 1959. Wanda married Robert Scott in June 1959. They had four children: Robert, Richard, Pamela, and Dawn. They later divorced, and Wanda and the four kids moved to Jamestown, where she began working at the Stutsman County courthouse. She met Bill Kruger in 1978, and they were married on January 3, 1979. Wanda worked primarily as a bookkeeper in the Jamestown area, eventually retiring from Buchanan Grain Elevator in 2003. They lived on their farm near Buchanan, North Dakota, and in 2008, they moved to Jamestown. Bill passed away in 2015. She continued to live in Jamestown until her eyesight diminished and she chose to move into an assisted living facility in Bismarck. Prairie Pointe has been her home for the past 2.5 years, and she has enjoyed her time there.
She loved gardening – flowers and vegetables. Wanda was an accomplished seamstress, starting back in her 4H Club during her school days and only ending when she lost her vision. She was especially proud of her beautifully pieced quilts. She loved her family and her grandkids were especially precious to her. Grandma Wanda attended many music programs and sporting events through the years. She was a great cook and big holiday meals always included homemade buns. Wanda was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown and had been an active member of the women’s quilting group.
Survivors include her four children, Robert (Pam) Scott, Richard Scott, Pamela Scott, Dawn (Mike) Moser; four step-children: Lisa (Kevin) Burggraff, Paula (Loren) Rudolph, Mark Kruger (Sheila), Eric (Nicki) Kruger; three grandchildren: Paige (Maverick) Larson, Aaron (Kelly) Moser, Seth Moser; seven step-grandchildren: Laura (Seth) Cottrell, Lindsay (Jason) O’Halloran, Jordan Larson, Nicole Larson, Blake (Sarah) Burggraff, Dylan (Anna) Kruger, Ashlyn Kruger; 29 great-grandchildren, and a few cousins and special friends.
