Delilah Guthmiller, 83, of Jamestown, ND passed away Sunday evening, June 7, 2026 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center.
Delilah B. Guthmiller was born May 15, 1943 at Steele, ND to Albert and Caroline (Wolf) Wallenvein. She attended rural Frettim Township grade school and Robinson High School through her junior year. After her children were all in school, Delilah proudly received her GED on May 21, 1984. She married Donald Guthmiller on August 31, 1960 and they moved to Jamestown in 1964. To this union 5 children were born, 3 boys and 2 girls: Jeanette (William) Erickson, Scott (Joy) Guthmiller, Candace (Terrill) Wolf, Blaine (Sheri) Guthmiller, and Randy Guthmiller.
Delilah was a stay-at-home mom until the children were off to school. She then decided it was time to become gainfully employed and went to work in housekeeping at Jamestown Hospital for 9 years. She later worked at Conlins Furniture for 19 years and then as the cook for Community Action Head Start for 13 years, where she was affectionately known as Grandma Delilah by all the kids she served delicious meals too. Delilah retired in May of 2014.
Delilah was well known for her cooking and baking. Her knoephla soup, rice and sauerkraut hotdish, apple pies and no-bake cookies along with many others were frequently requested at family gathering and she never disappointed. It was your own fault if you left hungry after any gathering. Besides cooking and baking, she loved the family camping/fishing excursions and dirt track racing. From the time Donald was a pitman for Jerry Guthmiller to the current time of watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her and Donald were in the stands most Saturday nights and if they were not in attendance, they were getting regular updates from those who were.
She is survived by her husband, children and grandchildren, Dustin (Miranda) Erickson, Lisa (Tyler) Schrenk, Cody Guthmiller, Megan (Travis) Walters, Brittany (Nicholas) Tripp, Bryan (Hayley) Wolf, Brooke(Justin) Kollman, Ashley Guthmiller, Levi Guthmiller, and Janessa Kapp; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Karli Erickson, Zachary and Colby Schrenk, Briauna, Braxton, & Bryson Guthmiller, Treyton and Alexis Walters, MaKenzie and Madison Tripp, Rilie, Jackson, & Emerie Wolf, Jayce and Easton Kollman, Paislee and Oliver Guthmiller; aunt, Lenora Woehl; sisters-in-law, Viola Hartzell and Esther Koenig; and her ‘sister from another mother’ and cousin, Betty (Larry) Falkenstein.
Delilah was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Caroline Wallenvein; father and mother-in-law, Philip and Pauline Guthmiller; sister and brother-in-law, Arthur and Irene Vogel; brother-in-law, Jenner “JJ” Koenig; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
