Myrtle Berniece Liebing, 93, Jamestown (formerly Marion, ND) passed away Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at Ave Maria Village under the care of HIA hospice. She was born in Barnes County on December 20, 1932, to Henry and Ralphine (Kluvers) Verduin. The family lived in Hastings, ND until moving to Lynden, Washington in 1945-46 where she attended 8th grade. Myrt graduated from Hastings in 1949 and went on to attend Jamestown College for one year.

In 1951 she was united in marriage to Donald Liebing of Marion, ND. They had four children; Roger, Thomas, Karen and Steven.

Her enthusiasm for gardening included raising a large vegetable garden and nurturing a wide variety of flowers. Myrt was a friend to everybody and had a cheerful and upbeat personality. She was active in her church over the years; playing piano, singing solos, directing VBS and helping with various other children’s ministries. In their retirement, Myrt and Don, enjoyed spending winters in California and later, Texas.

Myrt was preceded in death by her husband, Don, her parents; sisters, Lucille Flach and Marjorie Nordgaard; and grandson, Cody.

She is survived by her children: Roger (Andrea) of Eldridge, IA; Thomas (Laurie) of Marion, ND; Karen (Art) Perleberg of Broadus, MT; and Steven of Longmont, CO; 9 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of the Jamestown Church of the Nazarene where her service will be held on Monday, June 29th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be one hour prior, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Marion, ND.
