David Don Elhard, of Jud, passed away unexpectedly in his home June 25, two days before his 60th birthday.
David was born June 27, 1966, to O. Wilbert and Evelyn Elhard. He attended Jud Public School K-12 and continued his education at Wahpeton State School of Science earning a degree in farm management.
His passion since he was a child was grain farming. David was fortunate to fulfill that dream by farming on the family homestead with his brother Arlen.
David helped in the small community by being a volunteer firefighter and serving on the park board.
David’s hobbies included tinkering around with farm equipment, collecting toy tractors, playing darts and spending time with his cats. He always showed so much pride showing off his cats. The fluffier and fatter they were, the bigger he smiled.
David also enjoyed hanging out at the Jud Bar, visiting with friends, locals and whomever might be passing through, sharing day to day activities or just shooting the breeze. His spot is currently marked with his hat and beverage of choice in memory of David.
David is survived by his mother Evelyn Elhard; siblings, Arlen (Belinda) Elhard-Jud; sisters, Karen (James) Zubrod-Valley City and Marjorie (Erik) Myrold-Grand Forks; his nieces and nephews, Cassie Dahl, Tyler Elhard, Austin and Carson Zubrod, Brianna and Madison Myrold, great-nephews, Jacob and Jaxson Dahl; great-niece Oaklyn Elhard. Aunt, Janice Dockter and many cousins.
There will not be a funeral for David but a Celebration of Life, July 11, at the Jud Community Center starting at 4:00 PM.
