Roger LeRoy Caine, 77, of Jamestown, North Dakota, passed away on August 4, 2026, at Jamestown Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.

Roger was born on July 3, 1949, to Stanley and Pauline (Dietrich) Caine. He was the youngest of seven children and grew up in a Christian family that instilled in him the values of faith, hard work, and kindness. He graduated from New Rockford High School in 1967 and went on to attend the University of North Dakota. While attending UND, he was an active member of the Varsity Bards and the ROTC.

In September 1973, Roger began his career at Ladish Malting, where he faithfully dedicated many years of service. That same year, he joined the Jamestown Choralaires, continuing a lifelong love of singing. Music remained one of his greatest passions, and he treasured the friendships and memories made through the chorus.

In 1984, Roger married the love of his life, Barb Gilliss. Together they built a home centered on faith, love, and family. Roger and Barb lovingly raised Roger’s four children and were later blessed with two more children, creating the close-knit family that became the center of Roger’s life. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose greatest joy was supporting his family. He was blessed with six children, 16 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immeasurable pride and happiness.

Roger rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on those he loved. Whether it was a sporting event, concert, recital, school play, or another special occasion, he could always be found in the stands or audience. A man of deep faith due to being the son of a Methodist pastor, Roger was an active member of his church. He faithfully read his Bible and “The Upper Room” every day and lived his beliefs through kindness, humility, and service to others.

He loved his community and was a familiar face at Jamestown-area athletic events, concerts, musicals, and theater productions. As a proud Jimmie Booster member and dedicated supporter of the University of Jamestown Fine Arts, he believed in encouraging students and celebrating their talents. Whether it was a game, a concert, or a stage performance, Roger was there—supporting those around him with his quiet presence and generous spirit. Roger was also an active member of the Stutsman County Museum Board and could often be found at the museum’s Sunday Porch chats.

Roger also had a well-known sweet tooth. He often joked that he had never met a sweet treat he didn’t like, especially a Rice Krispies bar or a warm chocolate chip cookie. His wit and his sarcastic humor and appreciation for life’s simple pleasures will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Barb; his children, Staci (Kelly Lemier) Caine, Corey (Missy) Thompson both Bismarck, Rebecca (Bryce) Gilseth, Kenmare, Sarah (Lee) Mimong, Jamestown, Aaron (Darcie) Caine, Virginia, and Vanessa Pollard, Jamestown; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Carol; his parents, Stanley and Pauline; his brother, Lloyd; and his son-in-law, Daniel Pollard.

Visitation – 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2026 and one hour before the funeral service at First United Methodist Church, Jamestown.

Funeral Service – 2:30 p.m., Saturday, August 8, 2026 at First United Methodist Church.

Burial: Highland Home Cemetery, Jamestown.

Roger will be remembered for his gentle spirit, steadfast faith, unwavering work ethic, and the genuine love he showed to everyone around him. His greatest legacy is the family he cherished, the music he shared, and the countless lives he touched through his kindness, encouragement, and faithful presence. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
