Donelda Remmich, 81, formerly of Valley City, ND passed away peacefully on Friday, July 31, 2026, at Valley Senior Living in Grand Forks, ND, surrounded by family and under the care of the facility and HIA Hospice. Her funeral service will be 2:00 PM Friday, August 14, 2026, at Congregational United Church of Christ in Valley City with visitation one hour before the service. She will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Sanborn ND. The service will be live streamed, then archived on a link provided along with her obituary on her tribute page at www.lerudmathias.com. She was born Donelda Ann Scouten on August 5, 1944, to Frank and Lois (Cofell) Scouten in Jamestown, ND. Donelda was raised in Eckelson, ND the eldest of 10 children. She graduated from Eckelson High School in 1962 and then attended Capital Commercial College in Bismarck, where she earned a secretarial certificate.

Donelda moved to Valley City after completing her course where she worked in a law office and then worked for more than 30 years for the Barnes County Extension Service. She was united in marriage to Alvin Remmich on July 13, 1973, and the couple made their home in Valley City. After retirement she was asked to cook at the jail in Valley City, which she did for a few more years and thoroughly enjoyed.

Donelda belonged to Congregational United Church of Christ and served in different roles through her years. She was a 60+ year member of Order of Eastern Star and served as an officer several years. She was a charter member of Valley Quilters and was recognized for her 40 plus years in that organization before moving to Grand Forks. Donelda delivered Meals on Wheels and assisted many individuals with transportation and other needs in the community.

Her hobbies included watching basketball and decorating cakes and making mints. Her baking and decorating talents were showcased at many events including weddings, birthdays, graduations, showers etc.

She is survived by four brothers: Charles (Debra) Scouten of Downers Grove, Ill; Frank (Darla) Scouten of Zimmerman, MN; Floyd (Tammy) Scouten of Spiritwood, ND; and Robert (Jo) Scouten of Todd, NC; five sisters: Carol Malcolm of Talent, OR; Lucille (Robert) Luther of Dundas, MN; Dorothy (Richard) Suggs of Grand Forks, ND; Ethel (Kent) Utter of Tempe, AZ; and Joyce (Kyle) Bohnker of Denison, IA; one sister-in-law: Ruby (Tom) Lindeman of South Fork, MO; her niece and goddaughter: Sarah West of Grand Forks, ND; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Alvin; her parents; her brother-in-law: Terrence Malcolm; and three sisters-in-law: Alice, Edna and Lydia.
