Arlene “Suzie” Zimmerman, 95, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday, September 13th after a brief illness. She peacefully passed away at home with her family.

Suzie was born September 9, 1931, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Koenig) Krause, the youngest of 10 children. She grew up on a farm near Alfred, ND. The family eventually moved to Jamestown, where Suzie attended high school. She worked at a local restaurant, which is where she met the “Love of her life,” Dave Zimmerman. Dave and Suzie were married September 3, 1950. They began their married life in Webster, SD, which is where they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Lynde. In 1953, the family moved to Cleveland, ND where they lived on the family farm. They were blessed with two sons, Jon and Don. Dave and Suzie were hard workers, but they eventually retired from farming and Suzie began working for the Anne Carlsen School. After Dave passed, Suzie moved to Jamestown where she began working for the Jamestown College.  Sometime in her 70’s, the grandkids started asking if she was ready to retire. Her response was always, “One more year.” She worked until her 80’s.

Suzie enjoyed playing cards and board games while visiting with friends and family. She also loved to travel, taking multiple trips all over the world.

Suzie is survived by her 3 children, Lynde (Jim) of AZ, Jon (Sandie) of ND and Don (Julie) of MN. She was blessed with 6 grandkids, (who she loved to spoil, unlike her own kids!!), 7 great grandkids, and many friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dave; her parents; her 9 siblings; her grandson, Matthew; and her great-grandson, Alexander.

Suzie will be missed by family and friends. God bless you, Mom.

Memorial Service – 11:00 a.m., Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Grace Episcopal Church, Jamestown, with Father Bob Hoekstra officiating.

Visitation – 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., Saturday at the church.
