Lee A. Hennings, 90, Jamestown, ND, died Thursday, September 17, 2026, at SMP Health – Ave Maria in Jamestown.

Lee was born December 12, 1935, on the family farm near Jamestown, the son of Edward and Ann (Young) Hennings. He was the 12th of 13 children. He grew up in the area, attending the local school and later working as a farmhand.

Lee and Thelma Benson were married December 12, 1963, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Jamestown. They made their home in Jamestown, where Lee worked at the State Hospital for a couple of years before beginning his career in maintenance with the North Dakota State Highway Department. He worked there for more than 30 years before retiring in 1993.

Lee enjoyed woodworking, gardening, playing harmonica, and spending time with his grandchildren. He was a gifted craftsman and especially enjoyed woodworking. Lee was always willing to help a neighbor and could often be found working on small engines or tackling a handyman project. He passed those skills on to his grandchildren, teaching them how to work on cars and fix things themselves.

Lee is survived by his wife, Thelma; his children, David (Brenda), Minneapolis, MN, Daryl, Medina, ND, Darin, Ypsilanti, ND, and Danelle, Jamestown; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rosanne Farrell, Jamestown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and eight brothers.

Funeral Service- 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at Haut Funeral Home, Jamestown, ND, with Pastor Erik Weber, officiating.  Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM.

Interment- Sunset Memorial Gardens, Jamestown, ND.
