Ronald “Ron” Kenneth Powers passed away peacefully at HIA Heather’s House in Fargo, North Dakota, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the age of 83.

The funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, October 3, at Grace Free Lutheran Church in Valley City, ND. Visitation will be held at 1pm – 2 pm at the church on Saturday.

Ron was born to Ken and Lorene (Briggs) Powers on August 24, 1943, in Barnes County, North Dakota. He was the middle child of three siblings. He attended schools in Grand Prairie and Noltimier Townships in rural Barnes County.

Ron married Clarice Noeske on January 4, 1962, in Valley City. Together, they made their home on his family farm near Oriska, North Dakota, where they lived until 2007, when they moved to Fargo.
Ron loved farming and raised various livestock over the years. He took great pride in his work and remained involved in the farming operation even after retiring, continuing to help his son, Matt, as needed.

Ron was dedicated to his community and served in many ways throughout his life. He served as a Barnes County Commissioner, a Soil Conservationist, a church board member at Salem United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, and a softball coach.

He had a passion for sports and enjoyed collecting baseball cards. He also loved old Western television shows and spent many late nights watching the Johnny Carson show. Above all, Ron treasured his family and took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife of 64 years, Clarice; his children, Cindy Powers, Debbie Bruns, Kim (Greg) Baumgartner, Karen (Rob) Roycraft, and Matt (Nicole) Powers; 13 grandchildren, Derek (Laura) Bruns, Nathan Roycraft, Shaun (Jess) Roycraft, Brittney Torbenson, Alysha Sabby, Carli Baumgartner, Jill Baumgartner, Andrew (Fallon) Bruns, Briana Powers, Jaxx Bruns, Shayne (Paige) Powers, Tomira Powers, and Cade (Kate) Powers; 23 great-grandchildren, with another great-grandchild on the way; a brother, Louis (Anne Marie) Powers; a sister, June Powers; sisters-in-law Mari Kessler and Eloise Olson; as well as several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Lorene Powers; an infant daughter, Kristine; and an infant son, Mark.

Ron leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a loving family, and a legacy of faith, hard work, service, and devotion to those he loved.
