VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) – A former Valley City State University football player has been convicted of sexual assaulting an unconscious 19-year-old woman in a dorm room.
22-year-old Christopher Ratteray Jr. was convicted Wednesday on two counts of felony sexual assault related to the February 2011 incident.
Barnes County Assistant State’s Attorney Brad Cruff says sexually explicit images of the nude victim captured by the
defendant’s cell phone helped the jury reach a quick verdict. Cruff says alcohol was a factor in the incident. Southeast District Judge John Paulson ordered a 90-day sentencing investigation, including a sex offender risk assessment.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. The two-day jury trial wrapped up Wednesday.
