tidefootballUNDATED (AP) – Florida State took firm hold of second place in the BCS standings behind top-ranked Alabama and grabbed the inside track to the national championship game.

The Seminoles were second last week and solidified that position after Oregon was knocked off by Stanford Thursday night. Florida State then went out and crushed Wake Forest Saturday.

Ohio State is third, followed by Stanford and Baylor.

The top two teams in the final BCS poll will meet for the national championship.

UNDATED (AP) – Florida State moves up to No. 2 in this week’s The Associated Press college football poll, the Seminoles’ best ranking since 2000.

Alabama remains No. 1 and received 56 first-place votes from the media panel. Florida State got the other three first-place votes. Ohio State is No. 3, followed closely by Baylor. Stanford is fifth.
