VCSU 81, Johnson and Wales 75

VALLEY CITY (VCSU) – Aaron Duske scored 16 second-half points as he led the Valley City State men’s basketball team to an 81-75 victory Wednesday night against Johnson and Wales.

Duske’s big second half helped the Vikings rally back from a 32-28 halftime deficit. The win avenges a 79-76 loss at Johnson and Wales just four days ago.

True freshman Quinton Peterson had his best game in a Viking uniform, posting 16 points and six rebounds, including a big offensive rebound and putback late in the game.

Duske led the offense with 22 points. Junior guard AJ McDonald poured in 18 points and clinched the game with two free throws in the final 10 seconds. Jeremy Ware added nine points off the bench and Mac Kroeplin chipped in eight.

The Vikings shot 50 percent from the field (28-for-56) and out-rebounded the Wildcats 36-28.

Valley City State has now won four of their last five games and is 7-10 on the season.
