VALLEY CITY (VCSU) – Milnor High School (N.D.) senior Briton Bussman has chosen to
continue his education and basketball career at Valley City State University.
Viking head coach Jeff Kaminsky announced today that Bussman has signed a letter of
intent to attend VCSU and play basketball for the Vikings starting this fall.
A 6-foot-3 guard, Bussman helped lead Milnor to the North Dakota Class B State Title
last season. The Bison are currently 12-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state this season.
In December, Milnor won the Barnes County Tournament, which was played at Valley
City State.
“Briton is an outstanding addition to our program,” said Kaminsky. “He has had
tremendous success on the basketball court and we are equally excited about the
success he has had in the classroom. The versatility that he has as a perimeter
player will provide him with an opportunity to have an immediate impact in our
program.”
Bussman is currently in the midst of a great senior season, averaging 26 points,
nine rebounds and two assists per game for the Bison. His junior season earned him
numerous accolades, including All State, State Tournament MVP, All Region, All
District and All-Wild Rice Conference.
“Briton is an exceptional student-athlete, smart and hard-working,” said Milnor head
coach Ben Nelson. “I’ve seen him grow into a leader in the classroom and on the
court; someone who is admired and respected by his peers. He has been instrumental
to our success the past few years and I believe VCSU offers a great opportunity for
him. They are receiving a quality young man.”
Bussman is the son of Brian and Sherry Bussman. He signed his letter of intent
Thursday afternoon at Milnor High School. Bussman joins Williston High School’s
Jayden Ferguson as current VCSU signees for the 2014-15 season.
Valley City State University is coming off a 23-7 season and an appearance at the
NAIA National Tournament during the 2012-13 season under coach Kaminsky. The Vikings
are currently 7-10 in 2013-14. VCSU plays in the North Star Athletic Association and
the NAIA.
