Update from James River Humane Society President, Matt Opsahl…

The final results for the Potato Bar fundraiser is $3,711.58.

He says the event had a very good turn out considering there were other events happening that weekend. We certainly like to thank all who came and supported us and the volunteers who put it on.

 

Jamestown (CSi) The James River Humane Society fundraiser, “Potato Bar,” was held Sat March 8, at the Knight’s of Columbus Hall in Jamestown.

     

On Friday’s Wayne Byers Show, on CSi Cable 2, James River Humane Society, President, Matt Opsahl said the event is the largest fundraiser of the year for the shelter. It takes place from 5-p.m., to 7-p.m., with tickets at $10 each, and is the raffle entry, for several cash prizes.  Those 10 years of age and younger will be admitted, free.

Opsahl added that the recent poker tournament at the 281 Stop in Pingree, raised about $1,100 for shelter operations.

He said currently there are 18 cats and 15 dogs available for adoption at the shelter.

Also on our show was Assistant Animal Caregiver, Jenny Hieb, who assists Opsahl in various shelter operations.

The Annual meeting is set for March 3, 2014 at Hardee’s when there will be an election of executive board members, and openings on the board.

humanesocietyharleyVolunteers are welcome to walk dogs and socialize with the animals.

Donations are also welcome of cleaning supplies, pet treats and blankets and can be dropped off at the shelter, or a locations at Park Plaza, and Hugo’s.

The James River Humane Society is located off the I-94 Bloom Exit, with hours of operation every day from 9-a.m. to noon and 5:30-6:30 p.m.
