HouseCrashOakes (CSi)  The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports,  on Sunday  March 16, 2014 at 12:10 p.m.  38 year old Dale Smith Jr. of Oakes was driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck southbound on Highway 1 on the north side of Oakes.

The vehicle crossed the northbound lane, drove over a boulevard and crossed intersecting Elm Avenue. The vehicle drove across the front yard of the Podoll residence and crashed into their home.

Twenty eight year old Nick Podoll , his twenty five year old wife Alicia and their two year old daughter were in adjacent rooms at the time. The vehicle drove through a dining room, living room, bath room and came to rest in a bedroom.

Mr. Podoll was struck by debris. He was treated and released from an Oakes hospital.  Smith was arrested for DUI. Additional charges are pending. He was transported by ambulance to a Fargo hospital for treatment of his injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
