Fargo (CSi) NDSU Bison men’s head basketball coach, Saul Phillips is leaving to become the head coach of the men’s basketball program with the Ohio University, Bobcats in Athens, Ohio.
Phillips coached at NDSU for seven seasons with 134 wins, two NCAA Tournament appearances, a NCAA victory over Oklahoma this year and three consecutive postseasons.
University of Ohio won 25 games and took third in the MAC this past season. Phillips succeeds Jim Christian who left Ohio on Thursday to become the new head coach at Boston College.
Christian’s salary was 425 thousand dollars, the most pay in the MAC. It’s expected Phillips will not receive that much, but a significant pay raise over his NDSU salary.
