NEW YORK (AP) – The clock may be winding down on the NFL referees’ lockout. Several reports say the NFL and the union are close to an agreement that would let the league’s regular officials return to work — perhaps as early as this weekend.
The NFL isn’t confirming that a deal is near.
The outrage over blown calls by the substitute refs intensified Monday night with a game-winning touchdown that the league admitted should have been called back on a penalty.
