Fred Fridley Resigns, Un. Of Mary Women’s Basketball Coach

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — A successful women’s basketball coach at the University of Mary is quitting.

Fred Fridley says he’s joining Sanford Health as director of public affairs for central and western North Dakota.

Fridley, a native of Watford City, compiled a 170-91 record in nine seasons. The Marauders were 19-11 last season.

Mary advanced to three national tournaments and won two conference titles under Fridley. He coached four All-Americans and 15 all-conference players.

Fridley had only one losing season.

The Dickinson Press reports that Rick Neumann will serve as acting head coach.
