Jamestown (CSi) The Basilica of St. James in Jamestown recently bid
farewell to two of its beloved leaders.
The Reverand Father Al Bitz announced his retirement about the same time Sister Michealeen Jantzer was recalled to her convent in Yankton, S.D. for retirement.
The two were honored at a reception recently in the church’s parish center.
Sister Michealeen served the communities of Yankton, Epiphany, Hoven, Webster, Ipswich, Cransberg and Aberdeen in South Dakota and Fargo, ND before coming to Jamestown for the past 28 years.
Father Bitz served the following parishes in North Dakota:
Langdon, Fargo, Wimbledon, Casselton and Jamestown.
Father Bitz was ordained on June 13, 1969 and will make his retirement home in Bismarck.
