Bismarck, (CSi) The North Dakota State Health Department reports that mosquitoes carrying the West Nile Virus have been found in samples in Grand Forks.
Officials say it’s the first confirmation of the “culex tarsalis” type of mosquito in the state this year.
Health Department officials encourage those outdoors to use a repellant that contains the chemical,”deet,” and wear long sleeve shirts and long pants when outdoors.
It’s especially important at dusk and in the early morning when mosquito numbers are the highest.
In 2013,127 people were diagnosed with West Nile virus in North Dakota.
