LibraryDwtn500ConceptJamestown (CSi) James River Valley Library System Board of Directors has reviewed options for the Alfred Dickey Library project.

With existing Alfred Dickey Public Library downtown combiing with a brand-new addition, in an existing building to the north, the plan is to have staggered floors like a split-level home.

The tentative design shows four levels, containing the main floor and basement of the existing Alfred Dickey, structure, and a street/sidewalk level in the new building and an additional floor above that one.

Still in the design stage is the bookmobile garage, with officials preferring a drive through unit.

The library board also discussed the possible replacement for the presently used bookmobile, including costs, and options.

No action was taken as officials will continue reviewing options.

The library board is still looking for a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development, paying for 15 percent of the cost of the project, or $31,350.

The board has about $75,000 to replace the existing vehicle.
