Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Regional Medical Center (JRMC) now offers services for direct access physical therapy in the rehabilitation department. This service is available to allow access to a licensed physical therapist when and where a patient may choose, without obtaining a prescription or referral from a physician.
Direct access to physical therapy eliminates the burden, in both dollars and time, of unnecessary physician visits; making health care more affordable and accessible for all. It also eliminates delays of services provided by physical therapy by getting treatment when you need it – delays result in higher cost, decreased functional outcomes and frustration to patients. Direct access allows for an earlier return to work and daily activities for patients. It also provides earlier intervention keeping people independent and preventing further complication from injury.
“JRMC is excited to offer this service to the community,” said Tracy Anderson, JRMC Rehabilitation Manager. “We hope that individuals utilize direct access to get back to full functionality faster while saving time and money.”
Patients who utilize direct access for physical therapy will be questioned on their insurance carrier and will be advised within the best of the therapist’s knowledge on the physical therapy service coverage and the patient’s personal financial obligation. A patient 18 years or younger will require a parental or legal guardian signature upon registration. It is recommended that all patients contact their own insurance company as to their benefit plan for coverage of physical therapy services.
Rehabilitation hours for direct access physical therapy are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. To schedule an appointment for physical therapy when utilizing direct access call (701) 952-4800 and when asked for the referring physician, report self-referred.
