wellnesscenter VCValley City (CSi) With Valley City voters, Tuesday approving, with 51 percent of the vote, an Advisory Vote for the building of a $16 million community Health, Wellness and Physical Education Center, Sheyenne Valley Community Foundation administrator Andrea Nelson says a drive to raise another $4 million will begin soon.

The vote advises the Valley City Commission about amending the City Code to enact a City Sales, Use and Gross Receipts Tax, dedicated to the use of no greater than 17% capped at $3-million dollars, plus interest, for a bond issuance to provide financing assisstance for the Valley City Wellness, Health, and Physical Education Center.

VCSU students have voted to increase their student fees to help fund the facility.

The proposed 62,000 square foot Wellness Center would be located east of the W.E. Osmon Fieldhouse across 8th Avenue southwest.

The facility is a joint venture with the Valley City Park & Recreation Department, CHI Mercy Health and Valley City State University.
