Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown City Planning Commission has approved requesting SRF Consulting to research potential ordinances requiring a study on potential new developments.
The approval to be brought to the Jamestown City Council for consideration could mean that developers in Jamestown may be required to furnish a traffic impact study to the city prior to approval of new developments.
KLJ is providing the transportation analysis portion of the Land Use and Transportation Plan.
An area of concern is 25th Street SW between Walmart and the Buffalo Mall. Menards, Fairfield Inn and Dacotah Bank, which will contribute additional
traffic to the area.
The Planning Commission Monday also approved a zoning change for a lot at 503 2nd Ave. SW from residential to commercial. The lot, which is owned by Kevin Reuther, is currently a paved parking lot. Reuther intends to build an office building on the lot.
The zoning change was protested by Ron Hemmer and Bernie Satrom who own property in the area.
Because of the protests by nearby landowners, it will need to pass the council by a three-fourths majority for final approval.
