CSi The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports one person was killed Wednesday evening about 8:30 on Highway 281 about 4 miles south of Edgeley in a rear-end collission.
The report says, the asphalt roadway at that location and time was covered in compacted snow and ice.
A southbound white 2002 Chevrolet Suburban rear-ended a southbound red 1997 Freightliner semi that was pulling a flatbed trailer, loaded with a piece of heavy equipment.
The Suburban was driven by 38 year old Jason Michael Tolbert, of Minot, and the front seat passenger was 34 Joel Kennard Little, of Minot. Both Tolbert and Little were unrestrained, and sustained injuries during the crash.
The Freightliner semi was driven by 54 year old Darrell Gene Schrum, of Ellendale. He was not injured in the crash. Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, and the driver of the Suburban was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol.
Joel Kennard Little succumbed to his injuries sustained in the crash on Thursday. The North Dakota Highway patrol is still investigating the circumstances of this crash.
