MSU students record whiffle ball game

WhiffleBall MINOT, N.D. (AP) – Some Minot State University students pulled an all-nighter – but it had nothing to do with studying.

Ten members of the MSU softball team over the weekend played 31 hours, 32 minutes and 33 seconds of whiffle ball, attempting to break the Guinness world record for longest whiffle ball marathon. Guinness must verify the mark.

Senior Leyna Downey coordinated the game. She tells the Minot Daily News (http://bit.ly/1uiBEUN ) that trying to break a world record “was on my bucket list.”

The game began at 6:05 a.m. Saturday and ended at 3:51 p.m. Sunday. It lasted into the 233rd inning. The Black Team beat the Red Team by a score of 1,011-384.

The world record attempt also served as a fundraiser for the softball team.
