Jamestown (CSi)0 The petition drive to get enough signatures for a public vote on the proposed Two Rivers Activity Center (TRAC) is about half way to the goal. That, according to TRAC Board member and leader of the petition drive, Mindi Schmitz.
If the petition has enough signatures the city would be able place a one percent city sales tax question on the ballot, going toward construction of the proposed recreation center near Jamestown High School.
City Administrator Jeff Fuchs says the petition needs to have 1,053 signatures of qualified voters.
The proposed center would cost about $40 million. The TRAC Board is considering building the center in phases, depending on how much money is available for the center.

The Jamestown City Park Board, has been working on the proposed activity center for at least the last eight years along with Jamestown Public Schools, James River Family Fitness, Jamestown Tennis Association and Jamestown Gymnastics Club.
