bookmobileJamestown (CSi) The James River Valley Library System Board of Directors Wednesday evening, renewed the contractof Bill Kennedy as Development Director and approved the purchase of a new bookmobile.

Kennedy said he was continuing to work at fundraising and advocacy for the library as well as organizing a “Friends of the Library” group.

It will be about a year until the new bookmobile is operational.

Library system director Joe Rector, says the vehicle currently is priced at $215,400.

The new bookmobile will be 6 feet shorter than the current 36-foot bookmobile. The bookmobile includes portable book racks that can be wheeled on or off the bookmobile to easily change the books for different destinations.

Kennedy, says some grants may be available now that the vehicle is on order.
