Jamestown (CSi) Local camping was highlighted at Monday’s Jamestown Tourism Board of Directors meeting.
Tourism is looking to promote camping and set up a grant to improve some of the county-owned campgrounds as well.
The board also reviewed five goals on its strategic plan and was looKing to set priorities for Jamestown Tourism for the next year.
Board member, Tanea Clocksene, and Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund will meet with Fort Seward Reconstruction Committee/Veterans Memorial Chairman Dale Marks, to discuss the feasibility of creating some camping sites at Fort Seward.
Swedlund says it’s possible for the tourism board to establish a campground fund, but the board would have to create rules and regulations for how the money would be used.
In other business, the tourism board learned that Office Manager Cassie Theurer, has taken a new job in Bismarck and will be leaving Jamestown Tourism by end the of March.
Swedlund has posted the office manager position.
Still to be determined is how Theurer’s other duties as digital marketing specialist should be handled.
