Jamestown (CSi) The Jamestown School Board reviewed a report prepared for the district’s Health Insurance Committee to guide the committee through its health insurance renewal process.
Due to changes in the Affordable Care Act, the district will have to provide health insurance coverage to 73 additional workers next school year, and the school district’s premium could increase by $927,000.
Jamestown Public Schools Superintendent Robert Lech said the Health Insurance Committee was just starting the process of looking at the district’s health insurance coverage and the committee would be considering changes and making a final decision within the next two months.
The projected premium increase is happening in part due to the workforce for Jamestown Public Schools getting older and having more women than a similar-sized commercial business.
The school board has approved its meeting schedule for the 2015-16 school year. All school board meetings begin at 5:15 p.m. and are held in the Thompson Community Room in the Jamestown Middle School. The board will meet June 22, July 20, Aug. 17, Dec. 7 and Jan. 18. During all other months, the board will meet on the first and third Monday.
