Escapee, Redroad captured Sunday evening

BISMARCK, N.D. – The Northd Dakota Highway Ptrol reports that the 17-year-old who escaped from the North Dakota Youth Correctional Center in Mandan on Saturday is in custody.

Sunday night, the Mandan Police Department received a tip that Malachi Redroad was near a business on Memorial Highway in Mandan. Mandan Police officers and Highway Patrol troopers searched the area and located Redroad. He was taken into custody without incident.

Redroad and another Youth Correctional Center resident assaulted two guards during their escape. The second resident was taken into custody shortly after the escape. The condition of the guards is not being released.

The case remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
