Jamestown (CSi) Around 225 individuals and 20 teams for the Stutsman County Relay For Life cancer support event on Friday at the University of Jamestown Taylor Stadium. The annual event supports Stutsman County cancer support and research efforts
RFL Co-Chair Doreen Brophy says this year is special because all 20 teams that registered were present for the event. It is common that teams will register and support but other commitments may prevent them from being present for the Relay event.
Prior to the event $36,596 had been raised and more fundraising was taking place at the event.
Sue Parries was the top individual fundraiser with 270 luminary bags totalling $2,070. Her United Presbyterian Church booth raised $6,208.
Parries volunteers as a driver for patients needing transportation to treatment out of town.
Mary Klundt of the Jerry Iverson Construction team said they raised $2,600 just from their the Runnin ‘O the Green designated driver event.
With the Silent Auction, Committee Leader, Jami Reister says the auction is expected to match the $1,000 they earned in 2014.
