Jamestown (CSi) The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports, a 75-year-old bicycle rider was killed in an accident in Stutsman County about 6:30 p.m. Friday.
The bicyclist, 75 year old Frederick Lonas of Grants Pass, Oregon, was traveling westbound on N.D. Highway 46 approximately 10 miles west of U.S. Highway 281, on the far right of the westbound lane when it was struck by a westbound 2007 Freightliner semi driven by 44-year-old Daniel Blackman of Gackle.
Lonas was thrown into the ditch and pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a helmet.
Blackman was not injured, and was wearing a seatbelt.
The accident remains under investigation by the Highway Patrol which was assisted at the scene by the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and the Gackle and Jamestown Area Ambulance Service and Gackle Ambulance.
