Otter Tail Customer Service Manager, Jeff Hoff in Jamestown says, at 1:12 p.m., a high profile vehicle or equipment snagged a line on a power pole taking it down, falling northward, with lines across the road.
Law enforcement was on the scene diverting traffic around the downed power lines.
Later in the afternoon, a second pole fell over, as a result of the previous damage.
Law enforcement is investigating the incident. Anyone with information about the vehicle or equipment that struck the line should contact Jamestown Police.
Hoff says the power was off in a section of Northwest Jamestown from around downtown, into the Fort Seward area, from about 1:12 – p.m., to 1:35-p.m. The power outage affected 830 customers. All affected areas near Fort Seward had power restored late Thursday afternoon.
Otter Tail crews were installing the two new poles and re-stringing the lines, which was expected to be completed by later Thursday.
