Jamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police reports that two individuals were arrested in Jamestown Wednesday afternoon after a high speed chase, started shortly after 12 noon.
Police attempted to pull over 26 year old Harmony Olafson and 40 year old Travis Patzner after license plate readings on a blue 2004 BMW 530i showed that they were not registered to the vehicle. The registered owner of the BMW is from Linton.
Authorities say after traveling normally, the vehicle sped up and reached speeds of 90 to 100 mph.
The chase led authorities for 1 1/2 miles before they were able to apprehend Patzner and Olafson outside Eldridge, where the vehicle took a gravel road and went westbound until a dead end at the road, where the vehicle was rendered not drivable
When the vehicle came to a stop and both Olafson and Patzner fled on foot. Olafson was caught seconds after fleeing and Patzner was found shortly after.
Olafson faces charges of preventing arrest and fleeing a police officer. Patzner faces charges of preventing arrest, fleeing, reckless driving, possession of a controlled substance and violating the 24/7 program.
The investigation continues and additional charges may be filed. The Stutsman County Sheriff’s Office and North Dakota Highway Patrol also assisted with the pursuit.
