The funeral for 20-year-old Spc. Tyler Orgaard, of Bismarck, is Thursday Dec. 13, 2012, inthat city.
Orgaard’s body was brought to Bismarck on Monday and turned over to family.
Orgarrd and Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde, of Devils
Lake, members of the Williston-based 818th Engineer Company,
died in a roadside bomb attack in southern Afghanistan on Dec. 3, 2012 . A
third soldier was wounded but is recovering.
Gov. Jack Dalrymple is directing all state government agencies and encouraged all North Dakotans to fly the United States and North Dakota flags at half-staff on Thurs., Dec. 13, 2012, from sunrise to sunset in honor of North Dakota National Guard Spc. Tyler Orgaard, who was killed in action Dec. 3, 2012, in Afghanistan. Orgaard’s funeral will be held Thursday in Bismarck.
Dalrymple said, “Today, we mourn the loss of one of our finest sons and honor Spc. Tyler Orgaard for his valiant service and selfless sacrifice. We honor his memory, applaud his accomplishments and commit ourselves to never forgetting the extraordinary act he performed on our behalf. We will always be grateful to Spc. Orgaard and his family for their service and sacrifice, and they will remain in our hearts and prayers during this time of great sorrow.”
The Governor and First Lady Betsy Dalrymple will attend Orgaard’s funeral.

Linde’s funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec 11, 2012, in Sidney, Mont.
“Today, North Dakotans from all across the state will unite to honor one of our own for his valiant service and selfless sacrifice,” Dalrymple said. “Sgt. 1st Class Darren Linde represents the best of our state and nation, and symbolizes the true meaning of an American hero. We will always remember and honor him for the sacrifice he made, and our thoughts and prayers will be with his family as they mourn the loss of their loved one. We lower the flags to express our respect and gratitude to Sgt. 1st Class Linde and all those who have laid down their lives so that we can live ours in peace and prosperity.”
