JPDbadgeJamestown (CSi) Jamestown Police is reminding Christmas shoppers that they may see a Jamestown Police Department officer walking through stores to help contain a rash of shoplifting that has taken place in stores around Jamestown this week.

Lt. Justin Blinsky, says over the last two days there have been seven reports of shoplifting at five stores.

He adds, that the incidences involved different people and didn’t appear to be part of any organized effort.

Blinsky says there is usually an increase in shoplifting closer to Christmas.

He points out that the shoplifters have been caught the people in the act, or used video surveillance to catch the suspects

Blinksy adds that none of the suspects have been charged as yet. The items taken range in price from a few dollars to hundreds of dollars.
