Water heater may be cause, fatal VC house Fire

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) – A fatal fire in Valley City might be linked to the home’s gas water heater.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath says the early morning blaze on Sunday appears to have started in the area of the water heater in the home’s basement.

The fire killed 85-year-old Art Kirschenman. His 82 year-old wife, Arlene, was taken to a Fargo hospital for observation after the blaze.
